A jury found Raphy Pina, a well-known Puerto Rican musician, guilty of two counts of illegal possession weapons. This was in December 2021.

The court, which included seven women and five men took only a few hours to reach its verdict. Pina was granted release, but he was subject to the home restriction. He was not allowed to leave for religious, medical or other reasons, nor to testify in court.

What did Raphy Pina do for

The FBI raided the home of Natti Naasha in Caguas Real (Puerto Rico) on April 2020. There were firearms and 526 rounds of ammunition found. One of the guns was illegally modified so that it could fire automatically.

According to court documents Pina Nieves owned a Glock 19, nine millimeter pistol, and a Smith & Wesson.40 handgun.

He is also facing another charge Rafael Antonio Pina Nievesreal Name of the producer. This is for possessing firearms as a federal convict since he was convicted in 2015 of bank fraud and sentenced to 2 year supervised release in 2016.

Pina is now facing a maximum of ten year imprisonment for each of the above charges.

The president of Pina Records, addressing the media outside the courtroom to inform them that he would not relent after learning about the guilty verdict.

“I just lost the first round of 12 rounds. I am a warrior. “I’m going on and I’m going show the world Raphy Pina,” he declared last December.

Pina later posted a video on Instagram to clarify her position.

He said, “The government knows I am not a drug dealer, that my money has legal status, that all that I have legally and by my sweat of my brow” and he represented many of the top artists in the urban genre such as Nicky Jam, Daddy Yankee, and Don Omar.

The Puerto Rico Prosecutor’s Office believes that Raphy should be kept in prison while he appeals. He has not proven that he is not a flight risk or a danger to the community.

The sentencing hearing for Raphy Pina, originally scheduled for April 1, has been moved to April 18.
